Galaxy of Lights Huntsville Alabama Botanic Gardens
The Galaxy of Lights held every holiday season at the Huntsville Botanic Gardens in Huntsville Alabama began in 1996 and has grown in popularity every year since with locals and volunteers. It’s the largest single fundraiser for the gardens contributing to 20% of their operating budget. A large part of the success of the Galaxy of Lights is due to the dedicated volunteer staff of over 84 including the “Galaxy Guys” who are the core staff of volunteers ensuring that the “Galaxy of Light’s” is never the same two years in a row.
Making up the tour are six miles of Luminaries, six miles of extension cords over 150 lighted scenes and 750 individual elements or figures.
The Galaxy of Lights runs from November 11-15, 5-7:30 pm for members only walk through. Public walk through begins November 19-23. Adult admission is $6 and children $3. If your child happens to be the four legged variety; members dog walking tours are on November 15, 5-7:30pm with dog admission of $1. Public dog walk is on November 22, 5-7:30pm pet admission is $1. Dogs must be leashed.
Drive through nights are Thanksgiving through Januanry 1, 2011 5:30-9 pm. Cars/Vans are $20 up to 10 people. $1 off admission when you bring in donations of canned goods, toys, paper products, warm coats and pet food.
